Nuclear Deal versus Soaring Inflation verus Common Man

The political dilemma on the Nuclear Deal and it consequences are certainly signalling towards early elections, but if you ask a common man, it does not make any difference when compared to the price rise and soaring inflation.

I think the government is more busy thinking about the Nuclear Deal rather than the economics that is affecting the common man. Though the Finance Minister has left no stone unturned to curb the soaring inflation, but in vain.

No doubt the Nuclear Deal will be an advantage to India statically, economically and technological, but will this in anyway fulfill the Congress Government promise of a Roti, Kapada and Makan.

As per many thinkers, this deal will also have serious repercussion when compared to our relationship and stand towards Iran. Like India every other country has the right to protect its borders, its interests and use its resources.

I do not understand what difference this makes to US if Iran enriches the nuclear material. Earlier also, in the name of possession of chemical weapons, US waged a war against Iraq. What happened, US could not even get a single evidence to prove its theory. Now they are back with the theory that Iran is enriching the nuclear material to wage a war against US and the world and to our utter shame, our government is acting like a puppet and is ahead blaming Iran on its policy.

It seems Indian government has closed it eyes. Every economist of India including the political parties, besides their differences, are very well aware that the Gas pipeline from Iran will bring Gas as a cheap form of fuel to India. Even if we sign the deal, has the government calculated on the cost that will cost to use nuclear material for energy. According to one estimate, the nuclear power can only cover 7% of the energy needs of India by the time the technology for converting nuclear energy to electrical power is set.

On the other hand, the cost required for building the India - Iran gas pipeline will be nearly half the price required for nuclear energy. It seems instead of looking at the long term gains, the government is just looking only on those corporate profits that both India and U.S. will gain from the Nuclear deal.

In this article, I have try to put the value of Nuclear deal in terms of a common man and so I have not got into discussion on the political intricacies of this deal. Please do write your comments.
